About the photographer: Arleta Turnbull, founder of Yellow Petal Photo and one of the few photographers who specializes in death photography on Vancouver Island, is here to remind us that photographing your deceased loved ones is just as important as photographing their wedding day. Madeline collaborated with Arleta for this home funeral practice session, where she played the role of Sacred Witness, and participants moved through the ancient practice of caring for their own dead. This helped folks get a feel for what it would be like to have her document a home funeral.

She provides photography services in the Comox Valley and as part of the Comox Valley Community Deathcare group, as well as photography mentorship for those wishing to practice death photography.

While she does not have a public portfolio for this work, you can reach out to book a call via yellowpetalphotography@gmail.com
